Statistics World Cup 2014

 

The World Cup 2014 ended yesterday. It was a great tournament with great matchtes, great goals and some suprises (for example the great performance of Costa Rica and Algaria). Now all the World Cup is over it means that the statistics of all matches are available. I used the official website of the FIFA and the Forza (livescore addicts) app to make a dataset with different statistics as variables. From this dataset I compiled some interesting lists and insights. I categorized these insights the following way in this article:

• Lists with statistics per team;
• Statistics of about the tournament;
• Relations between statistics of the matches in the tournament.

I used R to make the calculations. I will soon upload the dataset and an seperate document with the commands and calculations I performed in R.
